Adelaide Island, also called Isla Adelaida or Isla Belgrano, is a large island covered mainly by ice. Measuring 75 miles long and 20 miles wide, it lies on Marguerite Bay's northern side off the Antarctic Peninsula's west coast. The British Antarctic Survey operates Rothera Station here throughout the year, with personnel studying the upper atmosphere and ozone layer.
