Arriving at the port

Ships cannot berth here, so inflatable Zodiac boats tender passengers ashore from the ship.

02

Sightseeing

At the Port of Cape Evans, Scott's Hut stands on Cape Evans's north shore on Antarctica's Ross Island. Robert Falcon Scott's British Antarctic Expedition of 1910-1913, the Terra Nova Expedition, built it in 1911. Scott and four companions began their ultimately fatal South Pole journey here. The hut was abandoned in 1913, but constant freezing conditions have left both it and its contents remarkably well preserved today.
