Arriving at the port
Landing is by inflatable Zodiac tender boats.
Aitcho is a phonetic spelling of "H.O.", meaning hydrographic office, a distinction held by the island for many years. The islands lie between Robert and Greenwich Islands. They were charted and named in 1936 by the British Admiralty’s Hydrographic Office, hence the H.O. name. Gentoo and chinstrap penguins live here, alongside skuas—large, black, hawk-like birds that steal penguin chicks.
