Arriving at the port
As cruise ships are not able to dock here you will be tendered by inflatable zodiac boats.
Sightseeing
Pleneau Island is located at the southern end of the Lemaire Channel off the Antarctic Peninsula. The island is around 1.2km long and has a cobbled beach on the eastern coast, with smooth rock terraces sloping gently upwards towards a large, potentially crevassed, ice-cap, which covers the western two-thirds of the island. There are Gentoo penguin, kelp gulls, south polar skua, Blue-eyed shag and Antarctic terns breeding here. You may also find southern elephant seals. Grounded icebergs have been known to occupy the bay, which has the same name as the island.
