Arriving at the port
The port is not close to town.
There might be some shuttles to local malls, from there on take public transport or take a taxi.
Sendai is the largest city in the Tohoku region of Japan and offers a mix of modern amenities and traditional Japanese culture.
Getting around
Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle): Start your tour at Sendai Castle, also known as Aoba Castle. While the original castle was destroyed during the Boshin War, the current structure is a reconstruction and serves as a historical museum. The hill on which it's located offers panoramic views of the city.
Zuihoden Mausoleum: This mausoleum is the final resting place of Date Masamune, a famous feudal lord of the Sendai region. The buildings are beautifully decorated and surrounded by lush greenery, making it a peaceful place to visit.
Osaki Hachimangu Shrine: Explore this historic Shinto shrine, which features stunning architecture and beautiful gardens. It's dedicated to the god of war, Hachiman.
Getting around Sendai is convenient via its subway system and buses. Consider getting a day pass if you plan to use public transportation extensively.

Matsushima: Take a day trip to Matsushima Bay, located just outside Sendai. It's known for its stunning views of pine-covered islands and is considered one of Japan's three most scenic spots.
Food and shopping
Jozenji Street: Enjoy a stroll along this vibrant street, lined with trees and contemporary art installations. It's a great place for shopping, dining, and people-watching.
Money
The currency in Japan is the yen. It comes in denominations of ¥10,000, ¥5,000 and ¥1,000 notes, as well as ¥500, ¥100, ¥50, ¥10, ¥5 and ¥1 coins.
ATMs in Japan are becoming more useful, and most can be used to withdraw funds from overseas accounts. Post offices also offer ATMs. Major credit cards are accepted at a majority of stores and restaurants in large urban areas, but if you plan on spending any time in rural areas, be sure to carry sufficient cash. Japan is still very much a cash society and some stores, hotels and restaurants-regardless of location-refuse credit cards.
Don't tip, as it's considered rude!
