Arriving at the port
Aburatsu Port is the main cruise-ship docking point for the area. Its position near the heart of Nichinan City provides easy access to the city’s attractions and amenities.
In Japan’s southern corner, Miyazaki has a humid subtropical climate and miles of palm-tree-lined sandy beaches. Getting around
Aburatsu Port Aquarium, in Miyazaki, is a popular attraction with dolphins, sea turtles and tropical fish. Interactive displays include a touch pool and jellyfish tank, and the aquarium provides educational programmes and children’s activities.
Aburatsu Port Lighthouse is a popular local attraction: a white, cylindrical tower at the entrance to the port. Built in 1876 and still in use today, visitors can climb its top for a stunning view over the port and surrounding area.

Aburatsu Port is a good place to explore Miyazaki’s sights and sounds. Take a leisurely waterfront stroll, visit the nearby aquarium or join a boat ride to explore nearby islands. There are also plenty of shops, restaurants and a variety of cultural attractions to discover.
Food and shopping
Fresh fish, shellfish and other seafood are sold at Aburatsu Port’s market in Miyazaki. Its souvenir shops also carry a variety of local crafts and snacks among their souvenirs.
Miyazaki City Shopping Street is a good place to find souvenirs near Aburatsu Port. This pedestrian-only street is lined with shops, restaurants and cafés, selling traditional Japanese crafts and modern items. Food stalls offer local delicacies, and there are plenty of distinctive gifts for friends and family at home.
