01

Arriving at the port

On Japan's Shikoku island, Matsuyama is an excellent cruise destination with history, natural beauty and cultural attractions.

Matsuyama port is well equipped for cruise calls, with shuttle services carrying passengers to key attractions.

Matsuyama Castle sits on Mount Katsuyama, with wide views over the city and Seto Inland Sea. It is one of Japan's twelve original castles surviving from the Edo period. Visitors can explore the grounds, discover samurai history and see beautiful spring cherry blossoms.

Ishiteji Temple has distinctive architecture, sacred statues and a cave used by pilgrims on their journey.

Dogo Onsen is among Japan's oldest hot springs, with more than 3,000 years of history. Its main Dogo Onsen Honkan building is a traditional wooden public bathhouse, often likened to the bathhouse in Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away.

Getting around

Ride the Botchan Ressha, a vintage steam-locomotive replica, for a leisurely tour of Matsuyama's sights.
