Arriving at the port
Marstrand is a small historic seaside town and port on an island in the Bohuslän archipelago on Sweden’s west coast. It’s known more for sailing, yachts, and scenic beauty than big cruise terminals — but luxury and smaller cruise ships do call here.
Often cruise vessels anchor near the harbor, and passengers are taken ashore by tender boats rather than docking at large cruise terminals, due to the town’s small size and marina-focused facilities.
Sightseeing
At the top of Marstrand Island stands Carlsten Fortress. For more than 300 years, the mighty guardian has protected the small wooden town below. Today, the fortress is a captivating experience to visit and a memory for life.
Getting around
By foot - the town is about 500 m by 500 m in size and the island about 1500 m by 750 m.
