Arriving at the port
In the South Harbour, there are several quays to offer cruise ships, with a draft of a maximum of 11 meters and a length of 250 meters (LOA). Distance from the pier to the city center is about 5-10 minutes by car.

A new City Pier opened in early 2020. The quay is 180 meters and the mooring vessels can be 150 meters long (LOA). The quay is located directly to the City center.

The water that divides Sweden and Denmark is called Öresund. At the most narrow point of the Sound (about 40 kilometers north of Copenhagen), the twin cities of Elsinore and Helsingborg mark the entrance to the Baltic Sea. Historically, the two cities have always been closely connected because of their strategic placement. From ships anchoring in the Öresund, the passengers can enjoy the view of Kronborg, Hamlet's famous castle on the Danish side and the medieval fortress tower, Kärnan, on the Swedish side. Getting around
Helsingborg is small and is easily explored on foot.
Nearby places
Take the 15 minute ferry ride across the sound to Helsingor, Denmark to see the Kronborg Castle and the cute little town.
If you have time, you can also take the train to Malmo, over and under the spectacular Oresund bridge, a short stop in Copenhagen and up the coast to Helsingor.
Just outside of Helsingborg, you can visit Sofiero Castle and it's beautiful gardens (requires a short taxi ride).
Food and shopping
In the city center, there is an abundance of shops, museums and restaurants. There is a wide selection of items such as Danish porcelain, silver, amber and leather goods. Antique and second hand shops not only add character, but also offer unique findings for everyone with a keen eye. And yes...there is an IKEA.
Money
The national currency is the Swedish krona (SEK, plural kronor). 1 USD is about 5.91 SEK, 1 EUR is about 9.43 SEK and 1 GBP is about 12.28 SEK.
Automatic teller machines take major credit cards. Most stores, restaurants and bars accept all major credit cards, although in some cases there is a SEK 5 fee or a lowest purchase limit (between 50 - 100 SEK).
Staying connected
Swedish is the national language of Sweden, but you will find that people, especially those below the age of 70, also speak English very well - an estimated 89% of Swedes can speak English.
