Arriving at the port

The pier is 190 meter long and can take cruise vessels up to 240 meters. Approximately 1,3 km. walk to city center. Shuttles are often provided.

The picturesque Old Town is the oldest district og Lysekil. This is the place where the settlement began in the 16th century. Today, the oldest houses are about 200 years old. Stroll the idyllic streets, with its cosy alleys between small houses. In several of the houses there are small signs telling about its owners and history.

A small pittoresque city centre and surrounding villages situated within the famous red granite rocks where the Gullmarsfjord meets the deep sea of Skagerrak. An area full of culture history, deep forests, small islands and numerous outdoor activities.

At Havets Hus a salt-water aquarium, is where you can get close to the sea and meet hundreds of fascinating marine species. With around 40 aquariums and other exciting activities like seal safaris and beach schools, Havets Hus is one of the most popular destinations in Bohuslän.

The city park of Lysekil was built in the 1860s and is the largest park of the city. The oldest trees in the city park are said to have been planted in the mid 1800s.

Nearby places

Located on Skaftö, Grundsund is a fishing village with all its original charm intact. Boathouses and small cottages rub shoulders all along the rocky shore, around the dock and the harbour canal. Much of the popular Swedish TV series "Saltön" was recorded in Grundsund.

The national currency is the Swedish krona (SEK, plural kronor). 1 USD is about 5.91 SEK, 1 EUR is about 9.43 SEK and 1 GBP is about 12.28 SEK.

Automatic teller machines take major credit cards. Most stores, restaurants and bars accept all major credit cards, although in some cases there is a SEK 5 fee or a lowest purchase limit (between 50 - 100 SEK).
