Arriving at the port
Cruise calls at Hitachinaka usually use Hitachinaka Port’s Nakaminato Harbor area. The facility can receive large cruise vessels and gives passengers a convenient way into the destination.
Hitachinaka’s downtown is around 10 kilometers, or about 6.2 miles, from port. By car or bus, the journey normally takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic. Shuttles are often provided between the port, city centre and visitor attractions.
Oarai and Hitachinaka are two of Ibaraki’s leading seaside towns. Their surroundings combine long sandy beaches and active fishing ports with several celebrated, beautiful parks against an endless-blue ocean backdrop. This appealing part of Ibaraki has plenty to see, do, eat and discover.
Getting around
Hitachi Seaside Park is a vast landscape celebrated for seasonal flowers: blue nemophila, or baby blue eyes, in spring and vivid red kochia, or summer cypress, in autumn. Cycling paths, an amusement area and attractive scenery add to its popularity.
Nearby places
On the coast, Oarai Isosaki Shrine is a scenic shrine known for its ocean-standing torii gate. It is especially rewarding for visitors drawn to traditional Japanese culture and beautiful photography.
