Arriving at the port
Himeji's main attractions are its gorgeous castle, one of the largest wooden structures in the world, built in the late 1500s, and Mount Shoshazan, a temple with a history of over 1,000 years.
Kōkoen Garden. This magnificent collection of 9 Edo-period-style walled gardens was laid out in 1992 on a site where samurai houses once stood.
Getting around
Shoshazan Ropeway: Operating Hours: Varies by season. Description: The ropeway takes you to the top of Mount Shosha, where Engyo-ji Temple is located. The ride itself offers picturesque views, and it's a convenient way to reach the temple if you don't want to hike.
Himeji City Museum of Art: Opening Hours: Typically from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (closed on Mondays). Admission Fee: Admission is required. It's a great place to explore and appreciate art in a serene setting.
