Arriving at the port
The port is within walking distance from town.
The Spanish city of Denia is situated in the Alicante region of Spain, on the Costa Blanca around half way between Alicante and Valencia. It is opposite the Balearic Islands and has the impressive mountains of the Montgo Natural Park as a backdrop. Providing excellent views of the city, the surrounding area and the sea is the town's 11th and 12th century castle which overlooks the town. Within the castle is the Palau del Governador, the castle's museum.
Dénia is always in fiestas: fire, sea and powder!
Dénia is considered one of the districts in Spain with the most fiestas. Each period of the year has festivities associated with life in the quarters, streets or the whole of the local population, true to the extent that it is difficult to come to Dénia without a surprise religious or festive celebration.

The Falles bonfires, with their passacaglia, mascletaes fireworks and the final cremà or burning of the bonfires.
The Patron Saint Fiestas in Honour of the Most Holy Blood (Santíssima Sang) and their "Bous a la mar" (Bulls to the sea), declared a Fiesta of National Tourist Interest.
The Moors and Christians, with the disembarkation, fight in the castle and, especially, the gala cortège.
The All Saint Attraction Fair, with fair attractions, especially longed for by children.

Dénia's beaches are of a remarkable beauty and it has a historic center where the castle raises majestically right in the center of town.
Mount Montgó, declared a Natural Park, is only a few meters from the sea and fishing boats come and go whilst they mark the rhythm of everyday life and provide Dénia with the best of the sea, making it the celebrated cuisine haven it has become. A few suggestions: a climb to the castle, a visit to museums, churches, streets and old quarters, a walk in Montgó Natural Park, watch how ships arrive to the fish exchange, enjoying sand beaches or encouraging you to practice a sport, living local fiestas with us and getting to know the surroundings, amongst many other activities.

The euro
The euro is divided into 100 cents. • There are eight different coins: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent, and 1 and 2 Euro. • There are seven different bank notes, for the following amounts: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Euro.
Staying connected
Spanish is the official language in the entire national territory. However, other languages coexist with Spanish in certain regions of Spain. The most common business for shops and businesses hours are Monday through Saturday, from 9.30 h to 13.30 h, and from 16.30 to 20.00 h.
Big shopping centers and department stores open from 10.00 h to 21.00 or 22.00 h uninterruptedly. These big stores open sometimes on Sunday.
In coastal cities, in high season, shops are usually open passed 22.00 h.
Pharmacies open from 9.30 to 13.30 h, and from 16.30 to 20.00 h. In all major cities you can find pharmacies that open 24 hours. Pharmacies follow a rolling late-hour schedule, which is published in the newspapers, and is posted at all pharmacies.
