Making the most of Alcudia

Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.

01

Arriving at the port

Beside the leisure marina, the cruise dock is a short walk from both the town centre and the beach.

Alcúdia, northern Majorca's principal town and tourist centre, stands on the bay where the Romans landed when they took the island in 123BC.

A pleasant beach is only a 10-minute walk from the dock.

02

Getting around

Alcúdia centres on sport and relaxation, with a golf course, cycle routes and hiking trails. Its restored, pedestrianised medieval walled town can be almost entirely circled via the sentry path, while the long sandy beach suits sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. The ruins of a Roman theatre, excavated in 1923, can also be seen.

No-frills travel agencies around the resorts sell organised excursions. Options include the Gorge of La Calobra, Soller’s famous wooden train, Puerto Soller and Lluc monastery; Palma is particularly popular, as are the Drach caves for many visitors to Alcudia whilst staying there.

03

Food and shopping

Carrer Pollentia is the principal shopping street. Stores generally open weekdays 0930-1330 and 1700-2000, with Saturday hours of 0900-1330.

04

Money

The local currency is the euro.
