Making the most of Alcudia

Arriving at the port
The cruise dock is next to the leisure marina and is only a stroll away to the town center and beach.
Alcúdia is the principal town and main tourist center in the north of Majorca, and stands on a bay where the Romans landed when they captured the island in 123BC.
The very nice beach is only a 10-minute stroll from the dock.
Getting around
The focus in Alcúdia is on sports and relaxation: the town has a golf course, cycle paths and hiking trails, and the old medieval walled town has been restored and pedestrianized. It is possible to walk almost completely around the town along the sentry path of the medieval walls, and the long sandy beach is ideal for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. You can also see the ruins of a Roman theatre, excavated in 1923.
There are also many organized tours that can be purchased from any of the no-frills travel agencies that are dotted around the resorts. Places of interest to visit are the Gorge of La Calobra, the famous wooden train of Soller, Puerto Soller, the monastery of Lluc. The city of Palma is very popular. Many people visit the caves of Drach whilst in Alcudia.
Food and shopping
Carrer Pollentia is the main shopping street. Most shops are open weekdays between 0930-1330 and 1700-2000, and Saturdays from 0900-1330.
