The Port of Vancouver is the home port for the Vancouver-USA cruise, among the world's most popular cruises. Each year from May to September, more than 900,000 passengers across some 275 sailings pass through Canada Place's Port terminals. Downtown attractions are only a few minutes' walk away. Port Metro Vancouver is Canada's largest port.

Vancouver Canada's Skytrain now operates three lines, with 68.7 km (42.7 mi) of track and 47 stations. Greater Vancouver transit offers day passes or individual 90 minute tickets.

The Expo Line, Millennium Line and new Canada Line operate here; the Canada Line links Richmond with Downtown Vancouver. Richmond is home to the International airport (YVR), with the Canada Line running directly to its door. It is by far the quickest and least expensive connection between the Canada Place Cruise Ship terminal and YVR Airport. The Cruise Ship terminal is a couple of hundred feet from the Canada Line waterfront Skytrain Station.

Recognised internationally as one of the world's great parks, Stanley Park was Vancouver's first and remains one of its main tourist attractions. This evergreen oasis of 400 hectares (1,000 acres) lies close to the downtown core.

Welcoming 1.3 million guests annually, Grouse Mountain is Vancouver's most popular attraction. It is the lower mainland's only truly four-season destination, with a wildlife refuge, extensive dining options, thrilling outdoor adventure, summer activities galore, the best local snow sports…and much more. Capilano Suspension Bridge leads to towering evergreens, cedar-scented rainforest air and Treetops Adventure: 7 suspended footbridges with views 110 feet above the forest floor. The new Cliffwalk traces a granite precipice along the Capilano River through a labyrinth-like sequence of narrow cantilevered bridges, stairs and platforms, with only 16 anchor points in the cliff supporting it!

FlyOver Canada is a virtual flight ride that has you “take off” before a huge domed screen for a breathtaking journey across Canada's spectacular sights. Seated in a suspended chair with feet dangling, you face an impressive 4-storey spherical screen. Wind, mist and scents, together with the chair's movement, make you feel as though you are truly soaring.

SkyTrain is among the world's oldest and longest automated driverless light rapid transit systems. Its Expo and Millennium Lines link downtown Vancouver with Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey; the Canada Line links downtown with Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Richmond. With the new Evergreen Extension, the Millennium travels from Vancouver through Burnaby to Port Moody and Coquitlam.

SkyTrain runs on electricity, making it emission-free and energy efficient. Elevated guide ways carry trains high above traffic every 2 to 8 minutes.

The SeaBus is an accessible passenger-only ferry. This 400-passenger catamaran travels between downtown Vancouver and North Vancouver in only 12-minutes, with spectacular views of the city, mountains and Burrand Inlet, so have your camera ready. Its North Shore terminal is at Lonsdale Quay, where a bus terminal has connecting buses waiting for onward journeys. Also visit Lonsdale Quay Market, home to over 80 unique shops and services.

From Vancouver, British Columbia's capital Victoria on Vancouver Island is a good next stop. Seattle is also quite close, while the beautiful resort town of Whistler is a little farther away.

Robson Street in the City center contains many high-end and tourist-oriented shops.

Pacific center offers more than 150 shops, restaurants and services in an underground shopping center. Beginning at Robson Street's north end, it reaches Pender Street. The mall has several floors depending on your location; notable merchants include Holt Renfrew, Harry Rosen, Sport Chek, Gap, and coming soon H&M and Apple Store. It connects to the Bay at Georgia and Granville streets and Vancouver center, a small mall largely made up of a lotto center, London Drugs and a food court beneath Scotiabank.

Vancouver is renowned for dim sum restaurants. Its large Chinese population helps make local dim sum among the world's best for price and quality.

A restaurant tip of 10-15% is considered normal. Tips are also commonly given to bell hops, concierges, room cleaners, cab drivers, hairdressers, hotel attendants and, by savvy drinkers, bar staff.

ATMs are found in many grocery stores, malls, airports and elsewhere, most linked to international networks such as Cirrus, Plus, Star and Maestro. Major-credit-card users can also withdraw cash from an ATM, but this is usually more expensive: alongside a service fee, interest is charged immediately.

Cafés offering customers free WiFi are widespread and generally reasonably priced ($2-3/hour). Wicked Gastown Internet Cafe supplies computers with Internet and offers free Wi-Fi at 27 locations across Vancouver.
