Making the most of Skopelos

01

Arriving at the port

This tender port uses Loutraki on the west coast. The main road links Skopelos Town (Chora) with Glossa/Loutraki port.

Skopelos is Kalokairi, the island featured in "Mamma Mia!" with Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried.

Skopelos is Greece's greenest island, where pine-trees and dense forest meet the deep blue of sea and sky in a picture of unrivalled natural beauty. Here, in Greece's very heart, you find an idyllic land: a small paradise.

In Chora, you can visit the folklore museum or walk through the old town. Begin at the harbour's left end when facing the sea, where steps lead all the way up to the old fortress. The beautiful climb passes many little churches and old houses. On the bay's other side, visit a nunnery dedicated to the Virgin Mary if dressed properly.

02

Getting around

The bus stop is on the quayside beside the harbor, allowing journeys to your chosen destination. The local service is pretty good, with regular buses following a time table that can also be found at the stop.

The taxi rank sits beside the harbor and bus stop on the quayside. Agree the price with the driver beforehand.

Bus links to beaches and Glossa are quite good, but Skopelos is steep, so the last stretch often requires walking. Taxis and car- and bike-rental places are also available.
