Skopelos

This is a tender port. Loutraki port is on the west coast. The main road connects Skopelos Town (Chora) to Glossa/Loutraki port.

Kalokairi, the island in the "Mamma Mia!" movie starring Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried, is actually Skopelos.

Skopelos is the greenest island in Greece. Here, where the green of the pine-trees and the dense forest mix with the deep blue of sea and sky, creating the picture of unrivalled nature beauty, you will find yourself in an idyllic land, in a small paradise in the very heart of Greece.

In Chora you can visit the folklore museum or take a walk in the old town. Starting from the left end of the harbor facing the sea, there are some steps leading all the way up to the old fortress. The climb is beautiful, with many little churches and old houses. On the other side of the bay is a nunnery dedicated to the Virgin Mary you can visit, if dressed properly.

Buses: The bus stop is at the quayside next to the harbor, and from here you can journey out to the destination of your choice. The local bus service is pretty good, with buses running regularly, according to the time table which you will also find there.

Taxis: The taxi rank is at the quayside next to the harbor and the bus stop. The price should be agreed prior with the driver.

There are quite good bus connections with the beaches and Glossa, but because Skopelos is such a steep island, you often have to walk the last bit. There are also taxis and places to rent cars and bikes.

Public Services: open Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 2.00pm. Retail Stores & Specialty Shops: Monday to Friday, 9am – 1.30pm and then again from 5pm – 9pm. Saturdays, 9am – 2pm. Supermarkets: Monday to Friday, 9am – 9pm, and Saturdays, 9am – 6pm. Tourist Shops and Convenience Stores: most of these do not have official opening hours and are usually open from dawn to well after midnight during the summer months.
