Arriving at the port
Skagen is geographically located at the top of Denmark, putting it at the very top of the continent of Europe. Here the two seas - The Baltic and the North Sea - and the whole world meet. At Grenen, the headland of the Skagen Odde spit, you can actually stand with one foot in the Baltic and one in the North Sea!
The Port of Skagen is Denmark's largest fishing harbor. In spite of this, it has retained the charming harbor atmosphere with restaurants in old fish warehouses surrounding the bustling marina.
New reception facilities are at the cruise quays holding tourist information and guidance, lounge, showroom, crew facilities, restrooms, free Wi-Fi, and taxies. Port of Skagen provides shuttle bus service from the cruise quays to the inner town.

The town of Skagen, which is a 600-year old market town has a unique setting and a fascinating history. For generations, it has been painted and depicted by artists and poets because of the remarkable Skagen light, the picturesque yellow fishermen's homes with the red tiled roofs and white edgings, the spectacular scenery and the lives and dealings of the fishing community. Even the great Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen lost his heart to Skagen.
Catering to the tourist influx are numerous top-notch museums, arts and craft galleries, bike-rental outlets, ice-cream parlours and harborside restaurants serving the freshest of fish.
Getting around
Grenen: Visit the iconic sandbar where two seas converge. It's a unique natural phenomenon and a popular attraction. To visit Grenen, the northernmost tip of Denmark where the North Sea and Baltic Sea meet, you can take a bus or rent a bike from the town center (about 4 km).

Food and shopping
The shopping facilities in Skagen are exceptional - art galleries, handicraft shops, Danish design, jewelry, amber and fashion. The pedestrian street, just 5 minutes walk from the terminal, has a bustling yet intimate shopping atmosphere.
Money
Denmark is not part of the EURO-monetary system, but major shops will probably give prices both in Danish kroner and in EURO (€). Most major international credit cards are accepted in Denmark.

Opening Hours and
Mon-Fri: 10 am-7 pm, Sat: 10 am-4 pm. On Sundays shops are normally closed but during the cruise season some department stores and malls are open.
Shops are allowed to open on the first Sunday of every month, as well as on all Sundays in December, preceding Christmas Eve. However, if the first Sunday in a month falls on a holiday or on Constitution Day, shops will stay closed. Please note that ordinary shops are closed on public holidays including Constitution Day, 5 June, and Christmas Eve, December 24. Kiosks, bakeries, station shops etc. are usually open on Saturdays after 5 p.m. and Sundays.
