The northern tip of Newfoundland is the most accessible region to view such a high number of icebergs.
Starting in late spring - often lasting until mid-summer, massive sized icebergs are common sightings along our coast - which sometimes float right into our harbors.
90% of an iceberg's mass is below water. Icebergs can often weigh in excess of several million tonnes. The tallest iceberg ever was 550 feet high.
Getting around
Tour Boat excursions allow visitors to view whales & immense icebergs from a closer vantage point.. As well, passengers can enjoy a unique perspective of Northern Newfoundland's magical rugged ocean coast. Wait with booking until you are there, it might be foggy or raining.
Nearby places
The site of the Viking settlement at L’Anse aux Meadows is about 20 miles north of St. Anthony and the trip takes about 30 minutes over rolling hills and a narrow two lane road. The L’Anse aux Meadows site is the only authenticated Viking settlement site in the North America.
Food and shopping
It's considered normal to tip 10-15% of a restaurant bill. Tips are also usually given to bell hops, concierges, room cleaners, cab drivers, hairdressers, hotel attendants and, by savvy drinkers, bar staff.

You will find ATMs in many grocery stores, malls, airports and so on, and most are linked to the international networks, the most common being Cirrus, Plus, Star and Maestro. You can also grab cash from an ATM if you use a major credit card although this method tends to be more expensive because, in addition to a service fee, you'll be charged interest immediately.
Staying connected
In Canada the main languages are English 59.3%, French 23.2% (both official); other 17.5%. Quebec and New Brunswick being the most "French" The rest of the country is English speaking.
