Arriving at the port
Most ships tender passengers into the Old Harbour, which is within walking distance of town.
The old town harbour makes a very picturesque arrival.
Rovinj, called Rovigno in Italian, remains one of the last genuine Mediterranean fishing ports. Prayers for a successful catch are offered at the enormous Cathedral of St Euphemia, whose 60 m tower rises above the peninsula.

Rovinj has faced towards the sea for centuries, drawing its wealth, lifestyle, outlook, development and future from it. At the same time, the town has managed to protect its natural environment while meeting every challenge of modern tourism.
Balbi's Arch: constructed in the 17th century, this historic gateway marks the old town entrance and offers an excellent place to begin exploring the centre.
The whole Rovinj coastline, together with the twenty-two neighbouring islands and islets, has protected natural-heritage status.
Getting around
Wear practical footwear because the attractive cobbled streets are both steep and rather slippery.
Nearby places
An hourly ferry travels to lovely, wooded Crveni otok (22KN return), while frequent boats serve nearby Sveti Katarina (12KN return) from the same landing. Both routes operate only between May and mid-October.
Food and shopping
Carera Street: Rovinj's principal shopping street contains a range of shops, boutiques and cafés, making it well suited to a relaxed walk and some shopping

Opening Hours and
Opening hours and holidays: banks and post offices usually operate continuously from 7AM to 7PM, while public offices open Monday–Friday from 8AM to 4PM. During the visitor season, post offices generally remain open until 9PM, including on Saturdays.
Shops and department stores trade continuously between 8AM and 8PM.
Shopping hours have not been regulated since 2009, so most shops in tourist destinations now open 7 days per week.
