Arriving at the port
Rijeka is the principal seaport of Croatia, located on Kvarner Bay, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea.
The port is located in the town center of Rijeka, close to the central train and bus stations.
Rijeka boasts a mild Mediterranean climate, perfect for taking a stroll along the Korzo and experiencing the heart of the city. Other than Trsat Castle, there is little architecture of interest, however there are many cafes to lounge in with views across the Bay.
Getting around
Most of Rijeka is accessible on foot, and traffic is actually banned on Korzo in the heart of the city.
For those that are further away from the city or tired, an efficient local bus network operates operating in a single-direction, circular movement around the central city area, and fanning out in all directions. Buses #2 and #8, to Trsat, are probably the most useful for tourists, and a good alternative to the 538 stair climb to the top of the hill.
Rijeka has a cheap and well organized Taxi service, they will get you anywhere in the city for approximately €10 or less.

Island of Krk: Tour the village of Vrbnik located on the island of Krk, one of the most famous Croatian villages, thanks to its Glagolitic heritage. Known as the cradle of Croatian literacy, and one of the oldest villages on the island of Krk, a walk through its narrow streets is like being transported back in time. Within its nest of old houses and winding lanes, it is not surprising that this is the location of the world‘s narrowest street.
Food and shopping
Rijeka has many large shopping centers as well as numerous small and medium stores for everyone's taste. Rijeka Tower is one of the newest and largest shopping malls in this part of Europe.
With stately 19th-century buildings, a tree-lined promenade along the harbor and a smattering of museums and restaurants, you will enjoy it here.
Rijeka Central Market, A bustling market where you can find fresh produce, seafood, local products, and souvenirs.

Banks and post offices are generally open from 7AM to 7PM without breaks, and public offices from Monday to Friday from 8AM to 4PM. During the tourist season, post offices are generally open until 9PM, including Saturdays.
Shops and department stores are open from 8AM to 8PM without breaks.
Since 2009 shopping hours are not regulated anymore, therefore most stores in tourist destinations are open 7 days a week.
