Making the most of Pulau Redang

Arriving at the port
In Malay, Redang is Pulau Redang, or Redang Island. It is in Kuala Nerus District, Terengganu, Malaysia, about 45 km off mainland Terengganu's coast.
Cruise ships anchor offshore near the main island and tender passengers to Redang Island Jetty (Jeti Pulau Redang), near Pasir Panjang Beach on the eastern side.
Sightseeing
This protected marine-park island is known for white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs. Arrivals find a small jetty with basic amenities, local boats and access to nearby resorts. The pier has no large shops or transport hubs, and most activities are arranged through cruise excursions or island resorts.
Getting around
Redang has very few sights, so most visitors laze on the beach or explore corals. Wildlife is fairly active, including inquisitive monkeys—do not feed them—energetic squirrels and large monitor lizards.
The island has few roads, so independent exploration is limited and mainly uses resort boats or arranged transfers. Shore experiences range from beach relaxation and short jungle walks to snorkeling, diving and glass-bottom boat trips.
