Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.
Arriving at the port
Turn left as you leave your tender and you will come across the entrance to the Angiolina Park. Plan your time to visit the Villa Angiolina. Then follow the main street and admire the architecture of the many Austrian villas. Walk along the seafront to the Hotel Kvarner and the lady with the seagull statue. Have lunch or afternoon tea at any one of the nice hotels or cafés
Notably, this city is built upon a hill which stretches right back from the coast. While this does offer breathtaking views from houses, hotels and apartments, the walk back will prove tiring at the least!
Getting around
Opatija is not a museum/gallery kind of place. Come for the swimming in the coves along the Lungomare or just stroll the great seaside promenade.
