Arriving at the port

The island is uninhabited and privately owned by Dr Henry Jarecki. Its area is about 600 acres (2.4 km²), and it is about 2.5 miles (4 km) long. A large harbor known as "The Bight" offers one of the most protected anchorages in the area. This is a tender port.

Legend plays a large part in the history of Norman Island with tales of pirates and treasure caves, although the role of the island as the model for the epic “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson is perhaps the most famous legend of all. While the island is now uninhabited, farmers have in the past reared cattle there and today the Caves are one of the most popular tourist attractions in the islands.

Getting around

The anchorage known as “The Bight” offers over 100 moorings available for guest use and is central to numerous world famous SCUBA dive and snorkel sites such as the Caves and the Indians. The 610-acre privately owned uninhabited island also boast numerous hiking trails and a breath taking white sand beaches.

There are also several favorite ‘watering holes', beloved by crews of visiting yachts, where the local gossip flows as freely as the rum.
