01

Arriving at the port

The town's harbor is at Setting Point which is a popular place for sailboats and occasional cruise ships, who will use tenders to bring you ashore.

Anegada is the only inhabited British Virgin Island formed from coral and limestone, rather than being of volcanic origin. While the other islands are mountainous, Anegada is flat and low. Its highest point is only about 28 feet (8.5 m) above sea level, earning it the name which translates as “the drowned land.”

Anegada is flat and low. Its highest point is only about 28 feet (8.5 m) above sea level, earning it its name, which is the Spanish term for the flooded land, "tierra anegada".

Most of the population (about 200) on Anegada live in the main town, The Settlement. Besides the Government Administration Building, a small medical clinic, a post office, a police building and a library there also are a few restaurants, the "Ocean Range Hotel", a bakery "Dotsy's Bakery" and a few small stores.

Its miles of south shore flats has a large population of bonefish, making Anegada a popular destination for fly fishing.

The island is almost entirely surrounded by reefs and has miles of beautiful sandy beaches.

02

Getting around

The remoteness of Anegada is one of its main attractions. Most visitors come to Anegada to relax, spending their days on Anegada's beautiful but relatively deserted north shore beaches.
