Arriving at the port
The port is located at Myrina, where the long main shopping street extends from the harbor in the South of the town. Often ships are anchored and tender the passengers ashore.
It takes about twenty minutes on foot from the port (always under construction) of St. Nikolaos area to the town center. (St. Nikolaos is the chapel you see from ferry situated on a hill looking down the port). A minibus recently started routes between them for passengers' convenience.

Limnos (or Lemnos) is the eighth largest island in the Aegean Sea and lies in the North Aegean, between Lesvos and Samothraki. The island has a coastline of 260 km's and is of volcanic origin. The island's main town and port is named Myrina, situated on the west coast. There are another 30 villages on the island, the largest of which is Moudros, which is also the island's second largest port and located in the south.
Getting around
Tourists to Limnos are attracted by its beauty and seascapes, the wide range of excursions offered to trekking-lovers, interesting archaeological sites, including the medieval castle in Myrina and the archaeological museum.
There are also taxis and vehicles for rent on the island, as well as boats that go to the various beaches.
Nearby places
Visit the castle for a breath-taking view of the island, especially when visibility is clear, so you can see Chalkidiki peninsula (Mount Athos) and other surrounding islands, like Samothrace, Imvros etc.
A handful of sandy beaches within short distance from Myrina are very rewarding during summertime, most found at the south and west coasts, unaffected by the usual strong winds blowing from northeast: Riha Nera, Platy, Thanos, Evgatis. Moreover, Gomati to the north and Keros to the east.

Stroll through the bustling Market Street, where you can find a variety of shops selling local products, souvenirs, and traditional Greek goods.

Public Services: open Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 2.00pm. Retail Stores & Specialty Shops: Monday to Friday, 9am – 1.30pm and then again from 5pm – 9pm. Saturdays, 9am – 2pm. Supermarkets: Monday to Friday, 9am – 9pm, and Saturdays, 9am – 6pm. Tourist Shops and Convenience Stores: most of these do not have official opening hours and are usually open from dawn to well after midnight during the summer months.
