Arriving at the port
The port is in Myrina, where a long principal shopping street runs from the harbour in the South of town. Ships often anchor offshore and tender passengers to land.
Walking from the port in the St. Nikolaos area, which is continually under construction, to the town centre takes about twenty minutes. St. Nikolaos is the hilltop chapel seen from the ferry overlooking the port. A recently introduced minibus now carries passengers between the two.

Limnos, also called Lemnos, is the eighth-largest island in the Aegean Sea. It occupies the North Aegean between Lesvos and Samothraki, has a volcanic origin and a coastline measuring 260 km. Myrina, on the west coast, is its main town and port. The island has another 30 villages; the largest, Moudros in the south, is also its second-largest port.
Getting around
Limnos attracts visitors with attractive landscapes and seascapes, varied outings for trekking enthusiasts and compelling archaeological sites, among them Myrina's medieval castle and the archaeological museum.
Taxis and hire vehicles operate around the island, while boats provide access to its different beaches.
Nearby places
For far-reaching island views, climb to the castle when conditions are clear. You may see the Chalkidiki peninsula and Mount Athos, along with surrounding islands such as Samothrace and Imvros.
Several worthwhile sandy beaches lie a short distance from Myrina and are especially appealing in summer. Most are on the southern and western coasts, away from the strong winds that usually blow from the north-east: Riha Nera, Platy, Thanos and Evgatis. Gomati lies to the north and Keros to the east.

Walk along lively Market Street to browse shops offering local produce, souvenirs and traditional Greek items.

Opening Hours and
Public Services open Monday to Friday from 8.00am – 2.00pm. Retail Stores & Specialist Shops trade Monday to Friday from 9am – 1.30pm and again from 5pm – 9pm, plus Saturdays from 9am – 2pm. Supermarkets operate Monday to Friday from 9am – 9pm and Saturdays from 9am – 6pm. Tourist Shops and Convenience Stores usually keep no official hours and, in the summer months, often open from dawn until well after midnight.
