Making the most of Krk

Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.

01

Arriving at the port

Most sailing vessels can berth in the centre of town.

Krk Island's position at the northernmost point of the Adriatic makes it the "first" and nearest island for continental European visitors seeking a Mediterranean atmosphere. During the 1980s, its exceptionally convenient location gained a strategic mile-long link, Krk Bridge, which now connects the island of Krk with the mainland.

Krk is a varied island with attractions for lovers of culture, nature and lively visitor resorts. Choices include thousand-year-old towns, small country villages, well-equipped urban beaches, secluded swimming coves, busy bars and clubs, and intimate, quiet restaurants and café bars.

02

Getting around

Several dozen marked visitor trails cross Krk through woodland and beside the seashore, with printed guides available from every tourist office. The surrounding underwater world is particularly interesting and supports local and international dive clubs. Obtain a diving licence at the harbour master's office by presenting a passport and diving qualification and paying a fee. Contact one of the clubs to refill bottles.
