Making the most of Komiza
Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.
Arriving at the port
Depending on the vessel's size, passengers either dock or come ashore by tender.
Komiza on Vis Island retains the character of a Mediterranean fishing village while growing as a beach resort and departure point for Blue Cave. Pleasantly ramshackle houses from the 17th and 18th centuries cluster around the port and bay beneath Hum hill.
Food and shopping
Historic 17th and 18th-century houses form a pleasantly ramshackle cluster around the harbour and bay below Hum hill. Walking north from central Komiza brings you to several small beaches, but the best is wide, pebbly Gusarica beach on the town's northern edge. At its café-restaurant, you can shelter from the sun over a leisurely coffee or cocktail.
