Killybegs is a lively town, where local and foreign ships rise above the quayside. Trendy and modern restaurants, traditional pubs, good food, entertainment and a warm welcome give visitors plenty of choice.
The old Donegal Carpet Factory building stands above the harbour, where world famous hand crafted Donegal Carpets were once made. It now houses the Killybegs Maritime & Heritage center.
Getting around
When cruises arrive, village bars usually have music, making a relaxed stop possible after exploring and before returning to the ship. A local minibus costing 5 Euro reaches the helpful tourist office, whose staff may suggest more ideas.
Money
The Republic of Ireland is in the Eurozone, so its currency, as in many European Union countries, is the Euro (symbol: €). Stand Alone Cash machines (ATMs) are widespread in every city and town, and credit cards are accepted by 90% of outlets. Irish ATMs do not generally charge fees, although your bank may charge one.

Offices operate 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Shops trade 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday, until 8pm on Thursday; Saturday 9am to 6pm; Sunday Limited Hours. Pubs open 10.30am to 11.30pm, Monday to Thursday, closing at 12.30am Friday and Saturday; Sunday hours are 12.30 to 11.30pm. Pubs close on Christmas Day and Good Friday.
