Making the most of Kalymnos

Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.

01

Arriving at the port

Kalymnos is a tender port, with tenders bringing you to Myrties.

Away from the beaten path in Greece's sunniest corner, Kalymnos is famed as the home of the sponge fishermen. Pass grand mansions built from sponge-trade proceeds and look for the Hellenistic bronze "Lady of Kalymnos" at the archaeological museum, another treasure brought up from the sea in a fisherman's net.

02

Getting around

After a short 10-minute walk to the Kaiki, board a boat at Myrties jetty for idyllic spots and small hidden bays. Fishing expeditions also depart from here.

03

Food and shopping

Round off the day at the local market with a spongy souvenir and a taste of wild thyme honey.

04

Money

The currency is the Euro.
