Arriving at the port
Itea’s central dock is in the town centre and serves smaller cruise ships.
Itea is the gateway port for Delphi. It is a calm, attractive little place with very few shops, a beach without facilities that is still suitable for swimming, and several pleasant cafes and bars.
Getting around
A taxi return to Delphi is about 60 euro per taxi, including a 3 hour stop to see the sights. Plenty of taxis should be waiting in port.
Nearby places
Near the modern Greek village of the same name, Delphi’s archaeological site is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In antiquity, it was home to Apollo’s most important oracle.
Mount Parnassus is a central-Greek limestone mountain rising over Delphi, north of the Gulf of Corinth. It has far-reaching views over olive groves and countryside. Greek mythology holds it sacred to Apollo and the Corycian nymphs, and names it the home of the Muses.
Food and shopping
The lovely towns of Delphi and Arachova have tavernas and shops, as well as excellent views from Mount Parnassus’s side.

Opening Hours and
Public services operate Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 2.00pm. Retail stores and speciality shops open Monday to Friday, 9am – 1.30pm, then 5pm – 9pm; Saturdays are 9am – 2pm. Supermarkets trade Monday to Friday, 9am – 9pm, and Saturdays, 9am – 6pm. Tourist shops and convenience stores usually have no official hours and, during summer, tend to open from dawn until well after midnight.
