Arriving at the port
Cruise dock at the commercial pier in Cap Aux Meules, the busiest island in the archipelago of the Îles de la Madeleine. It is about 1 km from the center.
Îles de la Madeleine is a stunning archipelago located in the heart of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Visit Cap-aux-Meules, with its vibrant land and seascapes, colorful houses and lovely dunes and cliffs. In the nearby village of Fatima, stroll the Sentier du Barachois, a protected wetland ideal for bird watching, or stay in town and browse the boutiques at the center d’achats Place des Îles. Enjoy the magical views, including the quaint red and white lighthouses that dot the Gulf.
Getting around
No less than three beaches provide plenty of aquatic activity, with the Dune du Nord and De l'Hôpital Beach easily reachable from Belle-Anse, where the cliffs have been chiselled by waves into sheer drops, smooth swirls and precarious projections.
Food and shopping
Along with being the administrative center of the islands, Île du Cap-aux-Meules bustles with a number of artisan shops, lively pubs and inviting restaurants.
