Arriving at the port

Fredericia is an impressive town on the Jutland peninsula and a former Danish military stronghold founded by Frederick III in 1650. Fortified walls, historic monuments and military remains appear across the town.
Its central position and substantial harbour nearly made Fredericia the Danish capital, but Copenhagen ultimately retained that status because it had the larger population.
Most of Fredericia's attractions, restaurants, bars, hotels, beaches and shopping areas are easily reached on foot. Walking along the city walls and sandy beaches is especially recommended, and much of the central retail district consists of fully pedestrianised streets.
Getting around
Allow about one hour to walk Fredericia's remarkable City Walls, a centuries-old fortress surrounded by old cannon and statues marking historic battles. Climb to the White Water Tower for wide views across the city.

Fredericia Port sits centrally within Denmark near famous attractions and brands such as LEGOLAND Park, one hour away by bus. LEGO® House, the "Home of the Brick", is Billund's definitive experience centre in the birthplace of LEGO. In Odense, visit the birthplace and museum of Hans Christian Andersen, who was born in poor circumstances in 1805 and began writing his internationally famous stories there. Discover how the poor shoemaker's son became a celebrated author, view his drawings and paper cuts, and learn about Danish life more than 200 years ago. The bus journey from Fredericia takes 45 minutes.
Money
Denmark does not use the EURO monetary system, although leading shops will probably display prices in Danish kroner and EURO (€). Most major international credit cards are accepted.

Normal hours are Monday to Thursday from 9.30/10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., and Friday from 9.30/10 a.m. to 7/8 p.m. Some shopping centres remain open until 7/8 p.m. on weekdays. On Saturdays, shops generally shut at 12.00 or 1 p.m. and department stores at 2 p.m. On each month's first Saturday, retailers may trade until 5 p.m.; most in Copenhagen, other cities and larger towns use this allowance.
