Making the most of Folegandros
Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.
Arriving at the port
As a smaller, more traditional Greek island, Folegandros has no large cruise terminal. Ships normally anchor offshore and tender passengers to Karavostasis, the main port.
Karavostasis is near Chora, Folegandros's main town: about 3 kilometers by a short drive or a 30-40 minute walk. Shuttle buses, taxis or local transport are typically available to passengers.
Chora is the main town, with white-washed buildings, narrow lanes and picturesque squares. Explore the Kastro, its old fortified section, and enjoy local shops, cafes and restaurants.
Getting around
Church of Panagia sits above Chora and provides panoramic views across the island and Aegean Sea. The walk up is especially rewarding at sunset.
There are plenty of beaches nearby.
