Arriving at the port

On the northern tip of Cephalonia, Fiskardo sits on a long sheltered bay. It is unusual on the island because the 1953 earthquake that devastated most other villages largely spared it, leaving the only waterfront with the once-common pastel-painted Venetian-style houses.
Kefalonia, Kefalinia, Cephalonia, Kefallonia and Cephallonia are all spellings for the same place.
Getting around
Fiskardo Village is ideal for a walk among traditional Venetian-style houses, many beautifully preserved. Cafes, tavernas and shops line the harbor, offering local food and souvenirs.
A popular boat excursion visits the sunken cavern and sky-blue subterranean Melissani Lake.

Public Services are open Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 2.00pm. Retail Stores & Specialty Shops operate Monday to Friday, 9am – 1.30pm and 5pm – 9pm, and Saturdays, 9am – 2pm. Supermarkets open Monday to Friday, 9am – 9pm, and Saturdays, 9am – 6pm. Tourist Shops and Convenience Stores usually lack official hours and commonly open from dawn until well after midnight during summer.
