Arriving at the port
Dongtou, also called Dongtou Island or Dongtou District, belongs to Wenzhou in China’s Zhejiang Province and is known for its coastal scenery and cultural heritage.
Smaller regional cruises and ferries can reach it. Maritime activity normally centres on Wenzhou Port, which serves the wider Wenzhou area including Dongtou. Central Dongtou District is about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from downtown Wenzhou.
At times, ships use tenders that go directly to Dongtou’s town centre.
Explore Dongtou’s history and culture and take in broad sea views from Wanghai Tower. This historic, centuries-old, five-story landmark rises 118 feet and offers a view into the area’s past.
At the East Sea Shell Carving Art Museum, discover the ancient practice of shell carving. In the Qin and Han dynasties, shells were carved with simple patterns featuring animals and birds.
