Making the most of Desroches

Arriving at the port
As cruise ships are not able to dock here you will be tendered ashore, directly to the beach.
This coral island stands majestically on a submerged atoll of the same name, 120 nautical miles southwest of Mahe in the Amirantes group. Desroches rises 3,000 meters out of the clear blue sea, boasting an abundant fish life and surrounded by approximately 50 nautical miles of reef to explore. The island has a coconut plantation and small agricultural settlement and enjoys a similar weather pattern as the rest of Seychelles in general, sunny all year round, with occasional warm showers.
Swim and snorkel in the warm, sparkling clear water. The long stretch of beach is also ideal for taking a walk. Whether in or out of the water, sun protection is essential. If snorkeling, it may be a good idea to wear plastic shoes to protect your feet from the coral and a T-shirt to avoid sunburn. There are no tourist facilities on the island.
Money
The islands' currency is the Seychelles rupee (SCR). ATM machines;usually have the best conversion rates, however, airports and banks;also conveniently exchange money. 1 Euro= 8 rupees.
