Northwest of the Falklands archipelago, Carcass Island is one of the prettiest outlying islands. In more than 100 years of habitation, it has had just three environmentally conscious owners; without cats or rats, its luxuriant established hedges and trees shelter small birds including Cobb's wren, Black-chinned siskins and Falklands thrush.
