Arriving at the port
Note: Willis Island is a scenic cruising site, where ships travel slowly past while a knowledgeable port lecturer identifies significant sights visible from onboard.
Willis Island lies in an Australian external territory in the Coral Sea, beyond the Great Barrier Reef and some 420 km east of Cairns, Queensland. It is the southernmost of three islands; together with their sandy cays, they extend in an NNE to SSW line for about 12 km. It is Australia's Coral Sea Islands Territory's only permanently inhabited island.
