Making the most of Vlora

Arriving at the port
Vlora's cruise terminal is in the city's port area, the Port of Vlora. It is a relatively new development as the city becomes more popular as a cruise destination.
Larger cruise ships remain relatively unfamiliar with this port.
Vlora's port is quite near the downtown area, roughly 1-2 kilometers (about 0.6-1.2 miles) from the city center. Reaching the heart of the city is therefore generally an easy walk or short taxi ride.
With Adriatic Sea views and plenty of cafes and restaurants, the Vlora Promenade (Lungomare) makes for a pleasant walk.
Beaches to visit:
Plazhi i Vjetër (Old Beach), close to the city center, is a popular place for sunbathing and swimming.
Further out, Plazhi i Ri (New Beach) has beautiful views and a lively atmosphere.
Albania declared independence in 1912 at Independence Square (Sheshi i Pavarësisë). Here you can see the Independence Monument and the nearby National Museum of Independence.
Nearby places
Zvernec Monastery is a 13th-century monastery on an island in the Narta Lagoon. It occupies a picturesque setting and is accessible by boat.
