Making the most of Torbay
Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.
Arriving at the port
Cruise ships visiting Torbay typically anchor offshore in Tor Bay, as there isn't a dedicated cruise terminal with dock facilities large enough for big ships. Passengers are transported to shore via tender boats to one of the harbors, usually Torquay Harbor.
Torquay Harbor to Downtown Torquay: The harbor is centrally located, and it’s a short walk (approximately 5-10 minutes) to reach the main downtown area.
Beaches and Seafront Torquay Beach: Enjoy the sandy beach and take a stroll along the promenade.
Paignton Beach: Known for its pier and family-friendly atmosphere.
Brixham Beaches: Smaller, quieter beaches like Breakwater Beach.
Getting around
Take a boat trip around the bay or to nearby attractions like Dartmouth.
Food and shopping
Torquay Town Centre: Offers a mix of high street shops, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.
