01

Arriving at the port

Built as a fishing port in the late 18th century, Tobermory is now the main village on the Isle of Mull. Its waterfront of colorful houses provides a cheerful first impression for any visitor.

The smaller cruise ships dock in the center of town. Larger ships will anchor and use tenders to the center of town.

Situated in the north of the island, it is a 40 minute drive from the main ferry port of Craignure.

The Isle of Mull is deservedly well known as a holiday island, with superb walking, fishing and outdoor pursuits amid spectacular scenery. There is abundant wildlife on land, in the surrounding seas and in the air – elements of a rare natural environment that bring many people to visit and to live.

Places to visit include Tobermory Distillery, which conducts guided tours explaining the whole process of whisky making - with a sample of the finished product at the end of the tour. Easily found at Ledaig Car park.

An Tobar Arts center, Gallery & Cafe is situated above Main Street, overlooking the bay on Argyll Terrace. Formerly the town's Primary school, it was superbly renovated in the late 1990's to become a center for both performing and visual arts. The exhibitions change on a monthly basis and there are concerts and ceildhs put on throughout the year (more frequently in the summer).

Another place of interest is the Mull museum, situated on the Main Street.
