01

Arriving at the port

Ternate cruise ships normally dock at Ahmad Yani Harbor (Pelabuhan Ahmad Yani), the town’s main port. Its central location makes reaching the city and its attractions convenient for visitors.

Ahmad Yani Harbor is approximately 2 kilometers, about 1.2 miles, from downtown Ternate. The city center is therefore easily reached on foot, by local transport or in a short taxi ride.

Visit Fort Oranje: built by the Dutch in the early 17th century, Fort Oranje is one of Ternate’s historical landmarks. It gives a view of the region’s colonial history alongside excellent views of the surrounding area.

Explore Sultan's Palace (Kedaton Sultan Ternate): this significant cultural site explains the Sultanate of Ternate’s history. Its museum holds artifacts, royal regalia and historical displays.

Ternate City Landmark (Landmark Kota Ternate): panoramic views over city and sea make this iconic landmark a great place for photographs and enjoying Ternate’s scenic beauty.

02

Getting around

At the foot of Mount Gamalama, picturesque Tolire Lake is a crater lake surrounded by lush vegetation and steeped in local legends and myths.
