Arriving at the port
The cruise dock is just 200 m from the city center.
Hurtigruten visits Sortland harbor daily: northbound 0230 - 0300 and South-bound 1230 - 1300.
Sortland, the capital city, has about 5.000 inhabitants and is Vesterålen's gateway. The islands at the County's northern end offer whale safaris, summer Melbu events, Nyksund fishing village, Nykvåg bird colonies in Bø, Trollfjord and Sea Kayaking—an experience not to miss.
What if an ugly city is accused of having no soul? Add colour: paint it blue. About 50,000 liters of paint created a bright, light, delicate atmosphere, and Sortland is now called "The Blue City".
Getting around
Use Sortland as a base for day trips to Andøy, Øksnes, Bø, Hadsel and Lofoten.

As Vesterålen´s leading shopping center, Sortland has such a broad range of shops, services and cultural activities that it can feel like a medium sized Norwegian city.
