Arriving at the port
Sanremo lies on the Mediterranean coast of western Liguria in north-western Italy. It was founded in Roman times and is now best known for being a tourist destination on the Italian Riviera and the host of several cultural events such as the Sanremo Music Festival.
Smaller ships are able to dock in the center of town. Larger ships anchor and will use tenders also to the center of town.
There are plenty of tourist attractions in San Remo that are open all year round and it boasts numerous and well-equipped sports facilities, such as a golf course and a riding ground.
Set on the Riviera dei Fiori in Liguria, San Remo lives up the name of its location with a number of enchanting gardens. The oldest section, called La Pigna ( the Pinecone) is a pedestrian-only neighborhood that invites strolling. If you want, climb to the Madonna della Costa Sanctuary at the top, for stunning views. Or visit the Russian Orthodox Church constructed along the line of Moscow St. Basil’s to serve the Russians who flocked here in the early 20th century. That waterfront is lined with cafes and restaurants ideal for lunch or people-watching.
Getting around
The center of San Remo is quite small, and all places of interest can be reached on foot.
Food and shopping
Many boutiques and local shops can be found in the town center. The colorful market, held on Tuesday and Saturday mornings in Piazza Eroi Sanremesi, is very famous among the people living in the Italian and French riviera.

Opening Hours and
Most shops and businesses in Italy open from Monday to Saturday from around 8am until 1pm, and from about 4pm until 7pm, though many shops close on Saturday afternoons and Monday mornings, and in the south the day can begin and end an hour later. In the north some businesses work to a 9am-5pm day to facilitate international dealings. Traditionally, everything except bars and restaurants closes on Sunday, though most towns have a pasticceria open in the mornings, while in large cities and tourist areas, Sunday opening is becoming more common.
