Making the most of Rosendal Hardangerfjord

Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.

01

Arriving at the port

The small town of Rosendal lies on the southern side of the Hardangerfjord entrance.

Because the port is small, passengers are brought ashore by tender.

The town is less than 1 km away.

Rosendal is little more than a village, and most places can be reached on foot. During summer, a horse and carriage travels from the harbour to the Baroniet.

The town's main attraction is Baroniet Rosendal, a castle set amid a beautiful park and rose garden.

The Shipbuilding Museum stands immediately beside the harbour and opens for the summer season.

02

Getting around

A tourist office offering free Wi-Fi can be found in the town centre.

03

Nearby places

Hike to the Folgefonna Glacier: join a guided walk on the nearby glacier for impressive views and a memorable encounter with Norway's natural landscape.

04

Money

Norway's currency is the Norwegian crown (Norske krone), abbreviated to kr, and 1/100th of a krone is called an øre. 1.00 EUR is about 9 NOK. Norway is one of the world's most expensive countries!
