Making the most of Porto Vecchio Capraia

Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.

01

Arriving at the port

Between 1873 and 1986, this was a prison island and its port chiefly handled commercial traffic supplying the penal colony.

Once the prison closed, recreational boating grew alongside fishing, passenger traffic and vessels delivering supplies to the 400 residents and tourist accommodation facilities.

Passenger traffic uses a quay about 134 meters long and a 3,200 m2 pre-boarding yard.

SOPROTUR manages the ‘Marina di Capraia’ boating facility, with 4 floating piers and 100 berths in total. The bay’s eastern part also has a buoy field for pleasure craft.

02

Getting around

The small island has few inland roads, and many locations can only be reached on foot or by sea.
