Arriving at the port
You will be tendered into the Village on the northern side of the island, where the local tourist office has set up a help-yourself table laden with brochures, maps, etc.

Porquerolles is the largest, most westerly of the three islands in the Îles d'Hyères. It is about 7 km (4.3 mi) long by 3 km (1.9 mi) wide, with five small ranges of hills. The south coast is lined with cliffs, and on the north coast are the port and the beaches of Notre Dame, La Courtade, and Plage d'Argent.
Only about 200 inhabitants.
Getting around
In 1988 the island was put under the protection of the French national Trust (national Park).Her sandy beaches and superb views from the cliffs( on the south side) falling to a sparkling sea, attract many visitors who enjoy walking or biking. Her temperate climate adds its own special charm to each season of the year.
The “Fort Sainte Agathe”, overhanging the village, offers a splendid panoramic view. An exhibition on the island’s patrimonial wealth and the bay of Hyères From April to October, guided tours are given to discover the biological versatility and architectural heritage of the island.

Opening Hours and
Most shops, businesses, information services, museums and banks in France stay open all day. The exceptions are the smaller shops and enterprises, which may close for lunch sometime between 12.30pm and 2pm. Basic hours of business are from 8 or 9am to 6.30 or 7.30pm Monday to Saturday for the big shops and Tuesday to Saturday for smaller shops (some of the smaller shops may open on Monday afternoon). You can always find boulangeries and food shops that do stay open, however, on days when others close – on Sunday normally until noon.
