Making the most of Pomene
Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.
Arriving at the port
Pomene has no conventional cruise terminal or the port infrastructure found at more developed destinations. Ships usually anchor offshore and passengers come to the beach by smaller tender boats.
Pomene Lodge, a well-known local accommodation, is a central reference point for visitors. Tenders generally land near it or at a beach accessible to the lodge.
Pomene's unspoilt white-sand beaches are ideal for relaxing, swimming in warm Indian Ocean water and enjoying peaceful surroundings along the shore.
Kayak through mangroves or along the coast to see the area's natural beauty; paddleboarding and other water sports are also possible.
Getting around
Pomene is remote, with limited transport. Most activities are arranged through local lodges or the cruise ship, and walking is usually the most practical way to explore the immediate area.
