01

Arriving at the port

Cruise ships dock right in downtown Parintins. It is an easy walk off the ship and into town. Most cruise ships are met by Bumba dancers! Large cruise ships will anchor and use their tenders to bring you ashore. About 1,5 km from the center of town

Parintins is at the tip of an island on the Amazon River and though one of the deepest spots in the river is before you get there, the channel gets very narrow and shallow prior to the tip of the island and confluence of rivers.

Parintins is a small town of about 80,000 people on the Amazon River in Brazil, about 350 miles from Manaus. The village is 200 years old and has a rich Indian heritage. Each June, Parintins hosts the famous Boi Bumba Festival, and tens of thousands of visitors pour into the town for the week-long party. Many festival-goers even sleep in hammocks on the boats that carried them to Parintins

Most times a cruise arrival will include a show, which resembles the Boi Bumba Festival.
