Arriving at the port
Sint Eustatius, known locally as Statia, is a small Dutch Caribbean island.
Statia is exceptionally small, quiet and relaxed. Anyone arriving in search of nightlife, shopping and similar diversions will be disappointed. The island nevertheless has considerable character for visitors able to slow down and appreciate their surroundings. Although Dutch, the island is entirely English-speaking.
Getting around
Built in the 17th century, historic Fort Oranje played an important part in the island's past. It now contains the St. Eustatius Historical Foundation Museum, where displays cover local history and Statia's role in the American Revolution.
